Resettlement & Agricultural Assistance Biodiesel & Sustainable Rural Technologies Program |
Conservation and TourismFew opportunities for economic advancement exist in the Teso region of northeastern Uganda. Additionally, wildlife, trees and topsoil are lost every year, due in part to the press of poverty. One of our most exciting projects, the Teso Wildlife Park, will serve to train communities in conservation and serve as a long-term source of tourism revenue. In 2005, with the help of local government, Pilgrim acquired 7 square miles of land in the Soroti District with some large buildings in need of cosmetic repair. This land will be attached to Teso University and be developed into an agricultural and conservation research center, a forest, a small wildlife reserve and a recreational park. Reforestation efforts is already underway. Click here to tour the land. To donate to this and other Pilgrim programs, click here.
